Yes, he should have tried to do something and let his wife, son and everyone he was trying to protect die. That would be ideal.
Ok ok sure. The ML knows what he did was wrong (which is good because in other mangas like this the ML's wouldn't give a flying fuck) but that doesn't mean he should be forgiven. He KNEW what was happening to the MC but he didn't do ANYTHING. Honestly, if I was the MC I would pity him because he's a pathetic, filthy, flaming garbage little boy that can't do two shits.
