I think she acted a bit differently the first time than in the novel which caused him to fall for her, and instead of it turning into a romance with the saintess girl he was cured of his madness and found a way to turn back time. Thus he isn't emotional because it has been years and he's been expecting this, plus he might be emotional when we don't see him.
A lot of people think ML also went back in time an I also believe that but I feel like something is wrong because when MC died he was very emotional but if he did come back wouldn't he be more emotional/express his feelings or smth..... not sure so I can say anything else, please tell me if you can come up with some better reasons as to if he came back in time too or he didnt.
