I think what I like most about this story is how Betty and Yu both sort of look like Ai and Makoto respectively. Im pretty sure the author did this to have be them foils to each other. For instance, Betty and Yu are representative/symbolic of Makoto and Ai’s inner child. Their emotional side or the side of themselves they don’t show to others. And if you look at the characters through that lens, most things start to make a little sense. Like why Makoto let Yu off so easily and why Ai is so protective over Yu. Verses the way they treat Betty; Makoto punishes him and Ai just ignores him.

I think these little details is what makes the story so good. It kinda makes me want to write an analysis essay on just the four characters as foils to one another lol.
