For me, Painter of the night is the most unique BL I've ever read.

I think painter of the night is just an another cliche story, the only thing that is good about that comic is art. Even tho the setting is a little different than most bls (ı mean its not in the present, its in the past) everything except that is same. Its not even different than hetero romance. It has a toxic, rapist top (male in hetero) and the cute naive bottom (female in hetero) ıts like this, Top is really handsome and rich somehow he takes intreset in an avarege boy (uke) top thinks he is way better for him so top thinks raping him is something he can get away with his looks or with a traumatic past. Bottom thinks he can change the top as if he needs to be fucking therapist of that rapist. Then bottom wont be able to take it anymore and broke up/ left the top. Top will understand his feelings for the bottom and as if he didnt rape the bottom he will say shit like “ı know what i did wasnt good but pls forgive me” fucking hypocrite thinks that saying sorry is enough for raping someone. Ugh. Then top will say some other shit which will make the bottom tearful. And then they live happily ever after, yayy! I hate these kinds of stories showing that if you are good looking and had a traumatic past you can be excused for every fucking thing. And before some of yall start to saying things like its a little different than this, ım sorry but changing the fucking setting doesnt change the way story is going. What ım trying to say is you can find these kinds of stories everywhere. Its not unuiqe and almost every popular romance has this same shit. Ooh i forgat the part where the rival of the top comes sorry. Its really hard to find something that is actually good. I dont ask plot to be a fucking game of thrones (ı mean the books) but you can just do something a little different; for example, show us that not every action can be excused (especially things like rape, violance) or make it a story where both sides hurt each other ıdk man

I actually dropped POTN as it seems to me that the fandom are only overhyping it because of the visuals. I only gave it a try because someone said it's good, but as soon as I got to the part where Nakyum is being raped, no shit Sherlock. I have this hobby of relating the scenes in the story to real life so I kinda felt uncomfortable. Moreover, I wrote the exact opposite of my opinion (currently taking a degree in psychology) to see something like your comment. Who knows, it might wake up POTN fandoms

I would recommend All about lust, long time red mall, Mr 100% perfect, the beast must die, raising a bat. I think they're different and refreshing for bl webtoons. I'm not sure if you'll like it though.
I mostly read bl mangas(the Japanese ones) because they have diverse tropes, since bl is a thing for them since a long time.
