Manga sites often gain ad revenue from page clicks, so ocassionally there will be sites or teams that snipe, aka steal a series, that quality translators are working on in order to have the benefits of being the first site to have a new chapter. However, these are often very, very, very poor translations, with often zero cleaning of watermarks or sound effects. They are basically unreadable and awful. This can both kill the motivation of quality translators, making them drop series' or reduce their own quality in order to get a readable chapter out first. This is because the first chapter that makes it online is often the one that is immediately stolen and reposted to manga sites like mangago by bots or "helpful people". This can make things complicated because the chapters will be reported as messed up and removed- leading to readers getting notifications for updates.... That have already been deleted. Or, having the bad quality chapter makes it so that a good quality chapter can't be posted since mangago is strict about deleting duplicate chapters off of series'.
S2 manga is the most notorious for sniping and releasing terrible translations. It's basically a battle of opinions, since the people who upload the chapters to mangago often think that a poor translation is better than nothing, or readers with poor English skills see the bad translations as 'up to par', are fighting against those who would rather wait for a properly translated chapter than waste their time reading a butchery of a translation.
This is the extent of my understanding of the topic that I've picked up from being around awhile. I may be wrong on some points, so if anyone could correct me on anything feel free too. Unless you're going to defend S2 manga, bc in that case you can go right ahead and fuck off.

They make the worst translations. I’ve seen some meme worthy sentences from S2, and I don’t mean meme worthy in the best way. It’s just that it’s so bad that it’s funny.
I’ve realized they’ve gotten slightly better recently, but it’s still pretty shit.
