good in the beginning but crappy near the end/recent chapters, like the artist doesnt want to end the story or something so he choose to drag it on and laxus and freed are usually seen together

hey all, i wanna read fairy tail coz i ship laxus and freed, but i wanted to ask if they appear fairly often or do u get to see the them very rarely in the manga? Also, how is the manga overall? Interesting?
