Just as previous comments stated, HE HAD 10 FREAKING YEARS. Like it just showed how selfish he was to only feel guilty after she left him (I am currently on Chapter 17)
Also, if he really wanted to atone for his sins, he should be aiming for the mc to be HAPPY not to come back to him nor desire any form of relationship to flourish anymore. Its just shows how selfish he really is, therefore I just hope he would learn from it all and not make things anymore complicated. Just support her happiness as someone who took it away from her for 10 years. You should accept the fact that you destroyed so much from her emotionally and mentally and just aim for her happiness with another person because you already had your chance and you blew it.
Be her shadow, protect her on the sidelines, accept your consequences and carry that guilt towards becoming a better person.
That would be the only decision that I would allow you to receive a bit of empathy from.
