It is whining. it's a gift, and she's got to realize she's in a novel, playing a greedy character. And she's living in a palace where people know nothing about modesty ntm I don't like overly modest characters anyway just accept the gift and get over it I get it's a lot but complaining THAT MUCH? is annoying it's just a gift if he didn't care about how much it cost she shouldn't either it's his money that he's willingly spending on her and his nephew and if she dislikes it that much she could have been more aggressive when telling him no and not "..no don't" type shit
Maybe she think that if she's overly aggressive when she rejected the offer, the other party would become like a drenched puppy.
And I disagree though that modern people would be overly modest. Well, there were severals, but most were not. They were not greedy, but hella… everything need money to work out. So, yeah, if modern girl like her got sent to isekai (somewhere in novel or other place), she should just play a moderate greed and instead use her brain more to judge others' characteristics.
You know, modern people got more in to reading characters. Plus, it's kind of weird if you are just OK when got swapped by those kind of wealth. I think it was kind of normal for MC (an average woman which never felt riches) to feel insecure or have an overwhelming modesty (remind her that the original Eudith died because of her greed)

Even so she is from a modern era where receiving this kinds of things is luxurious so of course she’s going to deny all the things the duke tries to give her, in my opinion I would also be pressured with all the gifts that i wouldn’t be used to. :/
She's not whining. She's just staying true to how she's been acting in the past month after possessing "Eudith"; she wants to survive by avoiding the death flag caused by the original character's greed. She knows she's in a novel too, and she's trying to do right by her "nephew" in the meantime. And please, receiving that much "gifts" can feel burdensome as well. As I said, she's a modern girl; and she's not exactly living in a place that knows nothing of modesty. She's a commoner, even if she's playing a greedy character, it doesn't mean that the MC can completely assimilate herself into living like a noble that spends unimaginable amounts of money. Also, did you somehow forget that she's not the original character? It's not mandatory for the MC to be greedy (〜￣△￣)〜
Why are you guys bringing up the original character?? I said she's got to realize she's become a greedy character so you don't think no one's going to find it weird that she's suddenly super modest?? If anything it would feel fake to me if I knew who she was before hand it would look like she only started acting super modest when she found out that her nephew was also the Duke's nephew it would look like she's putting on a show

ALSO HIM GIVING HER GIFTS AND HER ACCEPTING THEM ISN'T GREEDY THAT'S NOT WHAT GREED IS in the original novel she asked him for money to take her nephew and that was the only way he was going to get him and then she kept asking for money that's what greed is him giving her gifts and her kindly accepting them is not greed and it wouldn't get her killed either
i would be highly uncomfortable if a man i didn't know that well personally just showered me with so many super expensive gifts, especially when i plan to go back to a normal life so i would rather not get used to riches like this??
What? She read the novel she knows exactly how he is and who he is as a person and if she wanted to go back to her normal life, I'm guessing you meant inside of the novel? She wouldn't have got on that train even if the kid was begging her to. She should know by this point there's no going back to normal life even if she's hopeful of that happening once people see how close she is to her 'son' she'll just be used as something against him
