I know what you mean....it appears to me that , looking at how Habu behaved towards Shino, he felt something. I am not entirely sure that it was love (taking count of how Habu didn't seem to be in his 'right mind') but like they say in the same manga, he had the possibility to kill Shino (which he said he wanted to do) and he didn't. So I believe he had some form of affection towards him, maybe he did love him.....in a very twisted way. I was pretty sad when he died, cause I felt that his character was left a bit 'incomplete'.
I think it was a mix of love and hate. Besides not killing Shino doesn't necessarily mean that he loved him. Letting someone live while killing his friends and co-workers is a worse blow to a person than ending up dead. He'll end up with survivor guilt.
So can someone answer me?
