Okay so this is kind of a late reply but I decided to do it anyways....
This isn't the official manga adaptation, it's an anthology, meaning it's the work of several artists(not the official artist/writer) writing comics about their iteration of the characters. This is essentially a bunch of fan comics compiled together. Very fun read but not related to the main story whatsoever. Though there's some spoilers from the events of the main story here so uh you might already be spoiled. There is an official manga adaptation, however it only has 3 chapters so far and it barely covers the story of the game. You don't have to check the game out, I know several people who don't do that. Instead they watch translations of the main story on YouTube. Shel_BB posts really great translations on her channel so if you're interested in the main story go out her yt channel.

Is it ok to just read the manga and not check out the game? Or is it necessary to know stuff from the game before reading?
