I ALSO think that illusion may be a very likely technique included in the darkness element IF any of the antagonists use that element (which I’m 101% sure they do) because that may be how they can mask their element to be viewed as another (in this case, light)
AND MAYBE THE REASON WHY FL CAN SEE THROUGH THIS ILLUSION MAGIC THAT ML CANT SEE THROUGH (WHICH IS, IN THIS THEORY, A TECHNIQUE FROM THE DARKNESS ELEMENT) IS BECAUSE SHE IS THE REINCARNATION OF THAT LIGHT USER
