Im literlly a feminist. Its not about misogynistic people. Its just that most people write female characters as trash and even girls themselves (like me) hate them. I have few romance stories i like, its just that female characters there are written good.
For example, i've been reading Villain initialization just few days ago and when a girl who wants to date the MC showed up i didnt like her, but the more time passed the more interesting she was. That manwha was one of few that write female characters right, another one would be Omniscient reader's viewpoint, though that one dosent have even hint of romance.
Its about stories bot being tagged as romance and then having romance is what pi$$es$ people off. (+ im on ace spectrum and not that interested in romance stories :/)

I definitely understand where you’re coming from and understand the struggle of having well written female leads! I’m just not going to assume the worse until the part actually comes, and after reading Nano Machine, I don’t think the romance will be more important than the action presented.

Omg! So aptly put !!! I have already made the same comment several times on this point but I couldn’t help doing it again here.

1. Action mangas are about fulfilment of male fantasy for power. Unfortunately for most of us female readers, it also implies that the MCs of these are male and along with growing OP, these male MCs also “acquire women”.

2. Again, add to that a fact that most of these authors are males, for whom their male MCs “acquiring women” become an extension of this power fantasy. Since these women characters are only there to be “acquisitions” (a word we use for non-living material items), they are only there as fillers.

3. These same authors thus deliberately write these women in a way where they are not even remotely human but mete appendages of the male MCs existence. And in more cases, these authors lack the ability to even imagine women as humans and their work reveals that fact. This is due to their existing biases on the female gender.

4. It’s no surprise that most female readers of such mangas hate such female characters. Because they superimpose an unrealistic expectation as well as contempt against the female gender.

As a female reader, I feel a visceral reaction against such creations. It undermines my reality, my struggles & my existence as a woman. So for me, my reaction against such flimsy excuse of romance (if we can even call it that) is not misogynistic but rather the opposite.

If it’s a well put together romance on equal grounds, I bet such developments would have more support from female readers. But it is not. It is a horrific caricature meant for male fulfilment only. Hence the loud outcry, because we’d rather have no romance than have a great action manga suddenly go sour in our mouths as it spits its gender biases on our faces through these poor female characters .
