Is it bad form to report a "chapter" that has no actual content, i.e. only a message from the uploader? I am tired of getting notifications that lead to no chapters. I assume this trend has started so that people know they are still active and people won't upload over them, but it is super annoying. I don't see why we should cater to the most impatient people who are probably going to upload over someone anyway because they obviously don't read the messages contained within the chapters either.

I would say yes because if the message was something like "this has been discontinued" or "the original manga has stopped" or "I cant translate this anymore due to other reasons" it will let others know that they can pick it up and translate since the original translator stopped or the manga has ended.

I just wish they would put the manga chp name as notice/not an update instead.

Yes, changing the chapter name would definitely help. But most I have seen are just a "coming soon" or "we're still here"
