Violet tried to talk with him for 3 years. ML was always too "busy" to talk with her. This ain't on female lead at all. We'll later find out he had time, he just didn't make the time to listen to her cuz he thought she was going to bring up nonsense/trivia stuff.
ML just did many things for his wife but never ask what she really want is.(yes you both just need to talk)
