It was kind of an open ending, but the person in the cabin wasn't Dai, it seems to be the friend to help pass along the message. But it does seem to be a nice happy ending IMO, considering they did find each other, and are together again in America.

Damn it! I cried a bucket of tears and my heart is in so much pain but it makes me want to read more. More! Why did it have to end like that? That guy in the cabin was really Dai right? They ended up together and settled down in America right? Ugh, I have a lot of questions. ╥﹏╥
