I don't know why

But I feel if Nine continues to act the way he has (overprotective), he will lose in the end. I do feel he is a good guy, but he is forgetting that our FL is a strong woman. She trusts her friends to be on her side and that is why she is telling them her plan. If he causes a scene trying to (over)protect her, the FL will either send him away or not share her plans with him anymore. Also, I might be using the word friends, but that's not actually the case, she is their boss. She respects them and their abilities, but ultimately, the final decision belongs to her.
If Nine simply plans on advising her, that's great. But, if he is going to scold her, that is going to become a problem. Pride is not the exclusive monopoly of men.

I agree with you. However, Nine does not know what happens in the story, and is more worried that Melissa is always putting herself in harm's way when as a servant he's the one who should be getting hurt in her place. He has that sense of loyalty and maybe wants Melissa to depend on him more.

Although that that right now is being interpreted as overprotectiveness to Melissa since she has the armor of what's going to happen in the story, she should definitely be more careful even though she generally is careful when plotting such things.

All the times she teaches one of the male leads a lesson in their own way she is putting herself in danger, especially with a sicko like Peacock. She has to be more careful with this "getting poisoned " plot, but this high risk play has high rewards

Yep, that's true, she takes great risks and Nine wants a deeper relationship of trust between himself and the FL, as he has a crush. At the same time though that is a very one-sided feeling (on Nine's side) and that might be where my uncomfortable feeling comes from.
My belief is that protecting her doesn't necessarily mean locking her in a tower full of pillows. Sometimes, it means to trust the other person too.
Plus, it can be said that she is being more careful than usual as she is telling her companions what is going to happen next. But it is a high-risk play, as you say, so maybe a little more care in her plan might be good.
I kind of want to see the next chapter and see what their discussion will be about as nothing is certain yet.

Yeap, I do agree Nine does have a crush on Melissa and that is kinda cute but also sometimes makes it hard for him to express how he feels as someone who wants to be more depended on since he did get more powerful after transforming(?)

So far when he did trust her, Melissa still went and got quite reckless at times, which is definitely not how most nobles would act, they would send their subordinates (like Nine's level) to do their work and at times, dirty work for them.

Hope Nine can just express what he wants to tell Melissa, crush or not, to take more care of herself!! She's an important daughter of the Dukes house!

You are right! I hope so too!
