My thing about him not taking assistance from Suengeon is that his only option then is to get financial aid from someone he doesn’t know like a loan shark or the blond dude. At least he knows Suengeon cares for him and continuing his education and is less likely to do anything REALLY bad to him. I relate to the uke so much because I'm in a similar position. If my rank dropped to 12th, I'd vomit in the bathroom too, especially knowing that the reason for this was because I was tutoring someone who was already ranked first. Accepting the seme's money isn't a matter of pride, it's for security. If the uke takes the seme's money, do you really think the seme will treat him well? He'll use it against him for the rest of his life. He will use it as blackmail, leverage, to get the uke to do what he wants regardless of his feelings. The uke NEEDS to rely on himself to prevent this. I'm not blaming the seme for this situation because it should have been the uke to push him off before all of this, but the seme would have forced his way in nonetheless. For people like us, grades really are everything. . .
