they're claiming to feel suicidal??? i mean, tbh if the author is upset (forget suicidal just upset and aware of it) its rly good ettitiquette to stop reuploading (or do so in locked servers/private groups so its not rubbed in their face at least). i dont disagree this is a common issue but its kind of unfair to say she should just Deal With It. that said....i really hope they are getting help if they truly feel suicidal. because...even if it stops being reuploaded here (and hopefully it will be) there's no guarantee it wont ever be pirated elsewhere
and moreover...usually a person's suicidal ideation wont be cured from just one thing bothering them being fixed. now if they are just Saying this just to guilt people into stopping their piracy thats.....a yikes. i dont want to make assumptions. i hope they arent exaggerating for sympathy points but i also hope they are getting help otherwise cause this stopping rly wont cure that feeling of wanting to die. i /know/ that its never just One thing. and it may be they were already in a bad place and this made it worse. i think in this situation when the author is rly adamant about it, its just smarter, safer, better to stop reuploading publicly. tho people on this website are pretty shameless so i doubt it will stop. and threatening suicide is not an acceptable way to combat piracy either. (but perhaps she couldnt find a better way to ask for help, i dont know her life)
It's already on many other illegal sites so if people stop uploading here it won't change anything, I get your point though, I also hope she isn't just saying that to guilt people into stopping. Her just being upset isn't a good enough excuse for people to stop uploading though, I mean who wouldn't be upset if their work was being uploaded illegally?
i tried to reply to this comment 5 times and kept getting my reply blocked. i cant figure out which word caused my comment to just be stomped out but i was mainly going to say that certain authors of certain comics have succeeded in getting their work banished from multiple "free" sites including this one. but i cannot name or even hint at which ones those are without my comment refusing to post. but imo her being upset is a good enough reason cause not doing Piracy is in itself a good rule of thumb but im also someone who engages in it so im not trying to be holier than thou. just that its always smarter to do this shit on the downlow but at least if u arent gonna then once the heat gets turned by authors then thats a good time to just get out while the gettin is still good. and maybe stick sharing to private spaces. just my two cents.
Then it probably wasn't a good idea for her to share that she was suicidal and saying it was because of this manga being uploaded illegally. Instead, she should've actually took matters into her owns hands and try to take it down. People aren't going to stop uploading as you can see, so she should resolve by her self or with a friend or something. As long as it actually does something.
according to a friend who follows her twitter account. she wasnt complaining about mangago in particular but rather that there was a group of people on twitter sharing the links to pirated chpts of her comic openly and tagging her in them. basically intentionally rubbing it in her face. i am unclear (as i do not follow any twitters in a language that i cannot read) on whether this group started harassing her Before her complaint about piracy or after. but her statement about having suicidal thoughts came AFTER this group started specifically harassing her and was Not in fact a response to just knowing her work was being pirated online in general. (becuz yes that does happen very often but this kind of cruel and petty harassment is NOT as common and feels weirdly personal and i do not know Why? she was being picked on like this? she's certainly not the first kr webtoon creator to have beef with piracy of their work). anyway after that lez issued a statement saying it would be taking this seriously and Investigate. w/e that means, but its not like they havent managed to get their work removed before. i guess we'll see, but frankly she didnt do Anything wrong and people acting like she's somehow at fault is just beyond wild to me.
I'm sorry to hear about the author's struggle, but every single author deals with the same issue, illegal uploads exist in all media and nothing can be done about it. If the author feels suicidal they should seek professional help. Looking for someone to blame is not gonna solve anything.
