Yes, English does have a lot of Greek words but according to Oxford companion to the English language it's influence on the English language has largely been indirect. Mostly through Latin and French. But, it doesn't mean that Greek is the root of English. They both originated from completely different language families.

Everything in the world hasn't been defined by white men. All of humanity has taken a stand on a lot of things. Language is one of it. The linguistic societies in the world don't recognize AAVE/BVE as a language but a dialect like thousands of others. It's simple as that. Why are you bringing race into this?

English borrows a lot of words from several languages but it qualifies as a language according to the criterion set by linguistics. AAVE/BVE doesn't fulfill fulfill those so it's been relegated to a dialect. That's the conclusion by a peer reviewed paper in Stanford.
