Why not discard my friend just because I don't like everything about them you ask? Because I'm not required to like everything about my friend in order to enjoy my time with them! Don't see how that relates to your argument? Replace 'my friend' with 'a book' then.
And here is another illogical part of your argument: you just said that just because someone prevented the sh!tty behavior from happening that the person who exercised the sh!tty behavior had no intention of ever doing so. Hate to break it to ya but actions and intent are unrelated.

The FL shouldn't have to be the one to 'fix' things but the majority of stories (since they carry at least some kind of cliche) require the use of this victim/abuser type dynamic in one form or another.
Most of the rare few people who understand that the ML is at fault do recognize that there are people who played a larger role in the FL's suffering. It's the majority (the ones who typically use this argument that there are people who are worse than the ML) who are trying to distract the first group's attention from the responsibility the ML has. Which explains why the first group's focus is mainly on the ML in the first place. So by this logic who are the ones who are immature? It ain't the former group by any stretch of the imagination, obviously.
Most people tend to love defending the ML and victim blaming the FL. I guess the similar but actual assumption, then, would be that more people actually love hating on the FLs and hate holding the MLs accountable, *just because the first is female and the latter is male*. Fify.
Finally if fiction is an exaggerated reflection of reality why is it so surprising that the status quo is abusive ML and victimized FL, especially given that this same majority of readers apply the same moral judgments on victims in fiction as they do victims in real life?
By the FL “fixing” things I meant when she goes back to the past, she fixes all of her regrets. All the people she lost, she can save, all the people she treated wrongly, she can prevent. Basically making her life much better than before because she knows all of her future problems, unlike everyone else.
I never said the ML never did anything wrong and never said he shouldn’t take responsibility for it. I aimed most of my comment towards the people who have never mentioned her father, and only focus on hating the ML like he’s the only one who did everything wrong.
Most of the comments I’ve seen here don’t talk about how terrible her dad is, just talk about how much they don’t like the ML. I’m upset that the father is also not focused on, because he’s the one who actually has an unreasonable grudge against her and does not care for her. In the raws it showed in the previous timeline that the ML at least did care for her, but gave into the bad influences that was pushed onto him.
You’re speaking for the rare people who know the ML had faults and also know other people had them too. But you can’t speak for the ones who actually are that childish and believe the ML did everything bad. There are actual plenty of idiots who love to blame MLs for everything, just go to webcomics comments section to prove it. My whole comment was directed at those idiots not the people who also know and call out the other characters that made her suffer.
I never have only defended a ML who did bad things, and not talk about them not needing to take responsibility for them. I never victim blame a FL unless she really is dumb (referring to the FL of the story I mentioned in my very first comment, she went back to the guy that wronged her badly and forgave him only cause she loves him all within the same timeline, no going back to the past).

My third and fourth paragraph wasn’t talking about this story. I was referring to multiple other “go back into the past” stories, in general.
Like the abandoned empress which a huge amount of people hate. I get that people hated the ML and I did too. However I realized that the FL went all the back into the past when they were only children. I hated what he did in the future but I couldn’t hate his child self who did nothing wrong. They couldn’t separate the old timeline version of the ML from the present child ML and kept thinking of him as the same person who committed terrible deeds. But they separate the old timeline version of the FL and her present self, she’s completely different in the way she acts, speaks, and her whole personality. They understand she’s a new person but don’t understand the ML is too. The way she treated people changed, before she was cold to them, now she’s much more friendly. Readers couldn’t believe the ML could change though.

Looks like the big mastermind to her misfortune is her very own father. He really does not wish for her to be happy at all in her life, and is a big reason the ML had probably treated her the way he did. Don’t push all the blame onto the love interest just cause you hate him or focused on the romance shiz, look at the bigger picture, be a mature person and realize that there are others who are worse and the big center of the FL’s suffering.
People do tend to love having grudges against the ML if he ever wronged the FL in the past life, but that’s the point of getting a second chance, a new timeline. The FL gets the chance to fix things and so should the ML (depends on what exactly he did tho). I don’t get why people read second life type of stories if they know they’re just gonna keep a grudge against the ML like this ain’t a whole new life. People get mad at the ML for stuff he hadn’t exactly done yet in the new timeline or stuff he doesn’t even know he’s done. Guess it’s called easily siding with the main character no matter who it is, they will usually always give the MC a second chance whether or not they made mistakes or a bad person. But if it’s a love interest, they don’t give equal rights lmao.
Why not read stories that don’t involve the FL getting to go back in the past, and just be in one timeline- that way if the love interest messes up, you don’t sound petty and have good reason to be mad at him cause he actually did something in the present. I’ve seen plenty of other second chance stories where the ML is absolute scum (ex: taking baby from FL and lying to her that the baby died just to take the baby for himself and his new wife which he abandoned the FL for, then using one of the baby’s bones to give to his sickly new wife)
