Well, he was preparing to go to war with the eastern empire (Duke Ergy was staying there as a spy) but, stumbled upon empress Navier and fell in love with her which in turn changed his plans.
Remember the issue bout the Sorcerers losing magic n stuff
Heinly was the one who planted to do all of those stuff. He was preparing for a war against the East empire, but yet he knew he fell inlove with Navier. So he decided to cancel the war because ofc he loves Navier so much, navier couldn't allow the west empire to stumble on the land she grew up
And the reason why the duke is also a villian
Becuz he's a spy originally he has a personal grudge on Souvenire the emperor (idk to spell)
He threw out the mistress of the old emperor into another nation, and that nation was the west empire, and sadly that slave landed on duke Ergy's family and ruined their Family
The reason he came to help Rasta is to destroy souvir family (current love life)

Navier was never Infertile
It was the emperor, he's the one that can't produce and the baby inside Trashta isn't the emperor's child
In the end Navier gave birth to twins, a girl and a boy the father ofc if prince Haily, him and Navier got married and live happily
Rashta killed herself after being in prison for a long time (in the novel)
The true villains in this story wasn't the emperor or rastha, it was prince haily and the duke (haily's friend)
