may be he shared some kind of magic with her?! with the seal, there must be some protective spell too or something like that. a being so desperate to escape abyss would not just put his existence within her fragile life. it's like putting your soul in a glass jar in a room full of cats...
I do see the downside cause the king could be like "oh do what I say or I will kill her and send you back" but then they would have a god to do their wishes which would mean that he would have to sacrifice his favorite daughter or just live with the consequences.
