Hi there!!!
Personally i will highly recommend the novel because there are a lot of details that draws out the beauty of the story that the comic usually won't be able to showcase fully!
For people who are not used to reading novels or lengthy text, I would recommend reading the comic first to really get the strong interest that could help you to get through the novel!
Are there any specific genres you are looking for and genres you wanna avoid? And/or specific country's comic that you are looking for i.e. manga, manhua or manhwa?

oftentimes, like movies, there's a lot of details in the story that can't be expressed visually. when watching a show or movie adapted from a book i like to read the book first. however, this is a different situation because oftentimes the novel the manga/hwa/hua was developed from doesn't have an official english translation, and some fan translations take away from the beauty of the text because oftentimes descriptive language is hard to adapted.
so in general you could give it a try and see if the language is good enough, but obviously it does depend on the translation of the novel. personally, i loved a certain fan translation of "tian guan ci fu" because it read like a real novel that would have been in english with the complexity of language and vivid imagery used. some others i've read just sounded like a middle schooler wrote it, which obviously doesn't reflect the original language's work.

thank you!!
i used to read books so much when i was younger, but there are a lot of stories where i'm really interested in the plot so i'll give them a go!
genrewise i'm pretty much fine with reading anything, as long as it's interesting though i've been reading a LOT of isekai manhwas recently so i'm probably going to go through my list and see which have novel translations

I have alot more but i think these should be fine for now?? sorry got abit too excited.
i see that A LOT of the manhwas i read are actually adapted from novels and i'm undecided on if i should read the novels
do you think it's worth reading the novels beforehand or is it better to just read the comic (is it also worth reading the novel after i've finished the comic)
i'm assuming it generally depends on what novel/comic it is but what do you think in general?
can you give me some recs of good stories to read?
