Okay so kinda huge spoiler........
The emperor did something to her dad so whether he wants to show love/give affection to her, his brain literally goes into a brainwash mode and tries to hurt her I think???? Which is why we see him acting like a henchmen to the emperor despite him and everyone around him knowing he's a better emperor than that shitshow. The emperor is literally holding his daughter's life in his hands to make him act like a dog. He didn't want to but because his past wife noticed his 180 degree behavior, she tried to find out what happened but he ended up killing his wife (I can't remember exact details) because of the brainwashing thing because he tried telling his which activated it. Unfortunately the daughter saw the whole thing so they had to make her lose her memories. This is why when she fainted after that long shopping trip, the dad freaked out because the same thing happened when she was younger. Because she lost her memories, she can't remember him acting like a loving father when in reality, he has to hide his emotions to her.
I'm pretty sure I messed the information but that's the basic.

The emperor already knows he treasures his family, it's what prompt him to do this because he was getting jealous (plus his pride was hurt, fragile masculinity) over what people kept saying when they compared him to the emperor. It's also what lead to his wife's death, which speaking of, it was actually someone hired by the emperor to do, not the husband. It was just that the daughter say him crying over her mom's body that lead to get thinking that he killed her because she didn't see the dude slipping away (I just remember that)
The misunderstandings are giving me anxiety. But why was her dad so cold to her before? He never allowed her near him even when she was a child ;-;
