It's not the first time we discuss about this. I also ever suggested to make it work like '♡Like' button. But admins did nothing which different from many other cases that they take action almost right away. So I think there must be a reason.
In the optimistic way... if 'Thumb down' can be 'dislike/disagree' or just mistake of using, then the one who get it, may just think of it as clumsiness of someone to take it easy.

There's also another reason.. We found some users have problems with the idiot sick trolls who have a grudge against someone then keep following them around like psycho stalkers to just 'thump down' no matter how good of those topics are. Some psycho even created many accounts to do. Which no matter how we change the thumb up/down system we can't solve this kind of problem.
For me I focus on the message inside topic more than the amount of thumb up/down.
Everyday, hundreds of mangagoers suffer the fate of accidently clicking the dislike button instead of the like button on posts. Then tragically, they have to go through the trouble of writing a reply apologizing to the OP for their cancerous action. As annoying as it is, seeing those sorrowful replies has become a norm. This has become an epidemic in the mangago community, and we need to take action now. Mangago staff, please make the two buttons further apart so that those tragic incidents won't happen again.
