I reaally feel sad when characters equate being gay as to something being sinful because you know how when they find out they are gay they automatically think that they are an embarassment or shameful. And then they go down thiS path where they become someone who sleeps with anyone and thinks that casually sleeping with anyone as a gay person is just the most awful thing ever. When in fact, it's none of anybody's business.

In this manga for example, the uke has really low self esteem. And he thinks that him being gay is unpure or sinful. I can't help but feel frustrated because they are just regular people who also fall in love with regular people :( I have so much to say but I can't word it properly

I think because in Japan, being gay is considered a bad so people end up having these thoughts. Sadly, this mindset is really popular in Asian countries :((

idk where ure from but in asian countries being gay IS seen as sinful. of course in reality we know it is not sinful, everyone have the right to like anyone the want. but its ingrained in the society that homosexuality is something that is forbidden. so this is all a REAL struggle to us queer who live in homophobic countries. i think the mangaka wants to portray that reality.

we cant just be positive and start planning about our future where we can marry the people we love, even to live peacefully is already a hard thing and we have to live a lie. so i feel like ur comment come across as a little bit ignorant. if ure frustrated than how about the ones who r oppressed? sorry to sound so aggressive but ive been seeing people saying the same thing as u and they come from a very privileged place.

I'm actually from an asian country :) I know how difficult the reality of being queer is and how this affected the lives of many queer people. I'm frustrated because of how some characters perceive themselves as somebody who is sinful when they are the opposite of that. They are just regular people who deserve love and don't need to put themselves down just to have that 'love' they want or need. The way that I'm frustrated is how we just sort of accept this reality and don't try to change it or do changes even if it's small. I probably worded my frustrations wrong but what I really meant is that I hope queer people don't think like they are not normal people because they really are just people too who deserve so much more than they actually are receiving.

I'm from southamerica, well knonw for being homobohic (and other not so good things), so i perfectly understand the reality of queer people, I'm Bi, so i feel like its even worse for me but i feel like we are already over the selfloathing and selfhating trope of queer people in media, we have been portrayed as the sinful evil characters then just as comedy relief and then the famous stilll existing trope of bury your gays aka queer people don't deserve and or have a happy ending.
So i don't thing how the OP wanting to have another aproach to the mc queernes is a bad thing or comes form "privilege", also ignorant? you don't know their reality to use that word so easily.
And considering chapter 1 and 2, being gay isn't seen as bad as you're saying, considering that his "straight" friend had no problem with him being gay, sleeping with him and then asking him out after breaking up with his gf. Self acceptance is somthing we all strugled with but that's not the only reality of queer people.
Also You have to take into consideration that 99.9% of yaoi manga are written by female authors for female audience, and they're not queer themself so i wouldn't just say the the autor wants to portray the reality of asian queer people bc I can almost bet that they're not queer themself . wich is why yaoi has so many problematic cliches, tropes, stereotypes, the simple fact that the whole "uke/seme" dinamic still exist show that they don't really know how real queer raltionship works. They just write a female-male relatonship dinamic and draw a penis on the "uke" lol and the fetishization of rape is a whole other thing

thanku for clarifying, sorry i sound so petty, ive been hearing shits from people who are very privileged saying things like we in the homophobic country arent doing anything to claim our rights when the reality is our life would probably in danger if we so much just saying we're gay. take care
