you’re right, they do get together when they’re 16. but arthur goes through a hell lot of thought processing and stuff before he admits his feelings so it’s not as bad as it seems. i also dropped mushoku because of how gross it was. I read this before i watched MT but the romance between arthur and tess is tolerable compared to MT.
I'm glad It wasn't just me that the manga or the anime didn't sit well with. I think if they just cut those parts out in Mushoku Tensei it would've actually been a good manhwa in some way and I could've read it.

I read somewhere that he even ends up with all three girls , his master, childhood friend and then that girl that I think is pretty much related to him like a cousin or something, marries all three and has children. For me that just finally ruined it all, of course the pedophilia part is gross and I can't take it .

I think the big difference between Mushoku Tensei and this is that it takes like a decade for us to see any growth in Mushoku Tensei. The mc is like 10, treating preteens around him like loli figurines whose underwear he can take off while they're sleeping. In the show, we see that decade in the span of a few hours, so it seems like natural progress, but then you realize that he has been in that world for a quarter of his total lived life and yet he hasn't fully learned to treat people like people and have empathy for them. He still acts like he's an outsider and is very much so painted as "his past self in a new body." So him acting weirdly towards girls his age isn't him acting his age, since he hasn't assimilated... It's him being a 30 something year old perving on children.
Meanwhile Art decided to embrace his new friends and family and try to live the childhood he never got to live, and as a result has become much different from how he once was. He's more "Arthur" than he is his past self at this point, so it doesn't feel that far off to think that he could eventually decide to just disconnect ties with the "past him" and live as if he were nobody but Arthur.
Just my two cents on it, but it'll always feel kinda weird regardless.
I watched Mushoku Tensei when it was airing last season and was so insanely grossed out by the pervy scenes with the other young characters in the show. I feel like people didn't acknowledge how absolutely creepy it was that the main character was having sexual feelings for a preteen in his new childish body, when he was like 30 ish in his past life. That's literally just pedophilia, my man.
I'm glad Art acknowledges that, because I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything romantic happening with them until they're at least 16, preferably 20. Once they're in their twenties I think it'd be fine, but Tess isn't going to be anywhere near Arthur's maturity until she's like 25 ish, so it'd definitely be immoral for them to be romantic together. Felt really uncomfortable by the random kiss last chapter.
