I knew the moment I saw the mother in chap 1 who JUST had her 7th daughter, and the complaint from the woman excepting a son... that I read this from somewhere.

Although my memory isn’t the best, the FL was always near this little boy with black hair who was ‘oNe YeAr oLdEr’, i strangely have a memory of him bragging on about how he was going to protect her.
I also knew the obvious that the FL was physically weaker than the boy which was why he was saying stuff about protecting her when they got a bit older ( to 4 - 7 years ).
There was also a grandmother who noticed the FL and called her clever or smart for a child.
The FL’s parents are almost isolated and DEFINITELY seen as a disappointment from most of their other family members view. So the FL tries to help them bit by bit which actually might work out
