It’s actually not lmao “Yaoi” is actually an outdated term used to refer to Doujinshi that stray away from the original storyline of what ever anime/manga the doujinshi is based on. Pretty much the English equivalent of PwP, “Plot, what plot?” For fanfics.
It’s just that the international fanbase of anime and manga smacked a completely different meaning on it and called it a day. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
