I don't know if I am right with this one, and I don't know if you read the side stories. At first they said that once Millard mates with a human, he'll become human as well. He did, because they had Weijen. But other than that, they had their vows which contradicts with him becoming human after mating. The vow, from what I understood, is him tying his life to hers, and they become "one". Once the vow is done, he will die if she dies. That's pretty much it hehe. I hope I shed some light on this

It wasn't that he would be mortal after mating, I believe it was that he would become more humane and that she would become his weakness. The way she would become his weakness is the vow, so the whole plan was to have him say his vows with her and then kill her which will kill him, since that was the only way to end his immortality. I hope this helped
have a question - how could the author leave us hanging like that ? Will our female lead be immortal or just die so quickly ? I cannot imagine the effect this will have on our beloved male lead as he it totally devoted to her. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars !! I feel the story ended far too quickly and there is so much more room it to grow. I have never ever commented on a manga but this story was far too good to miss the opportunity ! I have to say my soul pretty much died reading this ! If anyone knows of an extra series coming out please please please let me know
