Even if we don't have a problem with rape in fiction, we need to be empathetic enough to understand that it is a very sensitive issue for a lot of people. They can't help feeling affected by it, and the translator was literally making fun of them for needing a trigger warning. That was the main issue, the translators hurtful remarks and all around shitty attitude, not the manga itself.
I understand it’s a very sensitive topic. I’m not saying they shouldn’t have the chance to express how they feel about it. I was reading a lot of comments some people were bashing the author of this Yaoi manga. As for the translator .. I don’t think they deserve to have death threats put upon them or saying “you’re going to make someone kill themselves”. Again.. I don’t think some people understand what they are doing (the translator for example). I’m not excusing the translator for writing those bashful side notes. The person probably didn’t see it in that light. I’m pretty sure after this person looks at all these comments .. hopefully whoever this person is .. changes everything.
It's a touchy subject. I get it but do we all have to tiptoe around this? Do I have to have that thrown into my face that I have to empathize with everyone else's sensibilities otherwise I'm for sure a bad person? Does anyone have to empathize that I hate dark scenes that can trigger my sleep paralysis? No, I have a problem and I stay away from things that can trigger it. I'm not unreasonable to ask the world to change because of me or to make people aware that oh, some stuff can hurt/offend me. I let them enjoy what they're doing and I mind my own sensibilities.
Also, given your bad opinion on the translator why care at all about what they say?
This is the first I’ve seen just a huge debate going on about translators and manga in general.
I perfectly understand a lot of Yaoi mangas have the whole non consent and rape scenes added in there. Is it acceptable..? Of fucking course not. Not one freaking bit. I think we tend to forget not all of these relationships are supposed to be meant as some idealistic “perfect relationships”.
I’m just really shocked by that fact some of people on here are speaking so harshly about this manga when it’s not even that bad. Including the sex scenes.. where it does seem like it establishing something non consensual. It didn’t even seem overall subjected around rape at all. I know damn well y’all know there a PLENTY of freaking Yaoi mangas that are based upon rape, abuse, psychological issues, etc. compared to this manga.
As for the translator. Plenty of people who translate always put there side notes in the actual pages. You can’t tell y’all haven’t seen everywhere in Mangas you may read on here.
You guys need to remember sometimes ppl may not know what might trigger someone. It’s not like the person can just tell. We all have our opinions on this.
I’m just really disheartened by how some of you are entirely bashing the creator of the manga
