Imagine being a lowly peasant with nothing to your name except plot armor and generic isekai beauty given by the author, where every male lead invariably falls for you. The typical reader would want to go full on Melissa. But she doesn't have any political power. The main gripe, I think, is that she's spineless, while MC has had to work her way through her own mess. And we resent her for that. We see her being aware of this, but she also can't afford to contradict her betters. It's tricky, but she is her character is meant to be disliked and she knows it.
