Hah. This is just the version of jetty in your head. Do you know how OLD she is in this manhwa? Do you know that rome isnt built in a day? In a chapter? Growth takes time. And humans makes mistakes as they go. You and HER is quite literally different to even say such things. Like dooood- shes just fourteen years old yearning for a family. For love. And for your information, do understand that children will GROW just how children in her age will grow. Both mentally and physically.
If you cant be patient with her growth development, then pause on that and read it later when she grows as a human. You cant literally expect someone to grow so quickly.
Me: (silently remembering the entire season 2 and Jeannette’s screen time) oooh ok, I guess we’ll have to wait for her to literally be 18 y/o oh, wait, maybe 20 y/o, that’s old enough, right? Yeah, let’s just forget how the artist wasted chapters of Jeanette cuz she was just there to show how young and naive she is. Not like how supposedly when you put a lot of screen time for a character there is some sort of change to happen, like a ChArAcTeR aRc or something or else it would be -gasp- a filler!
Me (to Me): why are you so frustrated? Athy’s the MC not Jeannette. Athy’s character development matters, forget the extras. If an author/artist wastes a character’s potential, why do you care?
Yeah, why bother. Let’s just forget me wanting some sort of culminating chapter where the countless chapters of Jeannette starring show why the artist put her at the center. Because wtf is her purpose for being drawn so frequently?
Me (to Me): ahem, 1) to reveal the villain, 2)as a foil for Athy? 3)filler = more chapters = more views = more money
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I did not like that Athy was the first to apologize. Personally, it would have been a great character development if Jeannette initiated the apology. Why do I think so? For one, it would show that Jeannette had graduated from her self-absorption-aka-pity party and be “graceful” enough to show that she “understands” why Athy kept the secret.
J: Your highness, I requested an audience with you today because I would like to say I am sorry. I apologize for my ignorance. I had been thinking and when I looked back to the days when you kept me in a distance, I thought it might have been awkward to you. That I, a daughter of his majesty’s brother, a rival to the throne, is being close to you. I understand now that you might have been troubled of my attentions. I don’t blame you for keeping the truth of my birthright. The truth is I also wished I had never known.
J: (inwardly) I much prefer the fantasy of you as my family rather than us being in opposite sides
A: No, Jeannette, I should be the one apologizing. We are friends and as a friend, I should have told you who you are but in my selfishness, I didn’t. I am sorry.
J: I do not blame you for your selfishness. I would be selfish too if I had his majesty’s affections. (Thoughts: I’ve been craving for a family for so long I would definitely hold on to them tightly)
J: Despite all that happened, I assure you, your highness, that I will support you. You are the empire’s greatest princess and I will be happy to be by your side. I do not dare to dream of something more.
Ha! Jeannette could never be this mature though. And Jeannette lowkey wants to be a princess anyway so no way will she ever utter such “humble” words.
Second, I don’t believe Athy feeling jealous is a sin. I believe she deserves to monopolize her dad’s affection or anyone’s affection in the palace. For me, it is reasonable to not want someone taking away your family’s love. It is dumb to sacrifice your own happiness just so somebody can have a share.
i am a fan of this quote which I read from “To Be A Virtuous Wife”, “Mercy to one’s enemy is a cruelty to yourself.” Above all else, do not be cruel to yourself. We are taught to not expect anything in return, therefore, if you are going to sacrifice one thing, do it for yourself, not for others.
If there is someone Athy should apologize to, it is to herself. As she said in the latest chapter, she is a coward, but not in a way she stated. For me, she is a coward not because she is afraid to lose her family’s affection but because she didn’t own it up to herself. That she deserves to have all those overwhelming love from her family. That the love is hers and hers alone and it.will.not.disappear. because they love the Athy they have interacted with every day. And whether or not she believes she is the real Athy, to them, she IS.
——
Now, that I’m thinking about it, this chapter would have been better if they’ve cut it into two or maybe show two settings where Athy was by herself and then her with Jeannette.
The first should be like a monologue of owning the love she’s being showered. Then, the next scene is Jeannette apologizing first.
Oh well, only in my dreams.
Goddamit it Claude wake up already!
