Im not an intellectual but i guess you could kind of like focus on one type of animal? Like for example... Cats, birds, horses or dogs? Then you could then list its characteristics for every type(or breed or whatever u call it). Then segregate the ideas into pros and cons. Like bigger cat genes has advantages like this and that while small ones has this and that... I dont really know hope you get the idea
Maybe you could try including a punnett square to your research showcase the flow of genetics for a specific animal?
A specific animal that exist today.
Then present the previous generations of that specie.Then discuss the inherited features that ensured the survival of the species, for the cons maybe discuss the characteristic that got lost over time.
