I think that the story would flow and just feel better if The maid was smarter (just a little bit) and actively helping the female lead.
The maid could run Interference with the two prince's when they come bugging her, heck she could still love money, in fact make it so that she is helping to make it as well.
For example, the dress scene, Instead of trying to keep the dresses she could have look at the dresses nod her head and turn to the female lead and asked how much can we get for them?
