She manages a Castle, every department needs, is preparing for winter. Budgets. Stocking up on supplies. While talking to people and telling them what to do. Oh and she’s renovating an entire castle.
Before all this, she has never done before and she is not educated in any of it. She had the mage teach her currency.
If anything all I am seeing is character development and improvement. And despite her shortcomings her character has come so far, to overcome them. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

That'd be unrealistic. After so many years of abuse, she'd have deep rooted issues that may take years to fix. I think the fact that she could even stand her ground for so long was admirable and a real development.
Her standing her ground was admirable but still— her being even a little confident after achieving what she did would be a greater sense of accomplishment. Like seriously.
It might be, but it would still be very unrealistic. Sadly that's not how humans work. The distrust in her own abilitiies is to severe to be gone with just this because of her abuse. Give her time.
Your right but her achieving some independent accomplishments should allow the human brain to grow confident—it’s not “unrealistic” because if it was the wife wouldn’t have been able to make independent decisions like managing the household, etc. A little bit of confident is all I’m asking!!!
It’s because she did grow in confidence that she was able to stand her ground to defend the castle even after being insulted. If you think about it’s been what, a few months? Since she came to Riftan’s home. Before Riftan, she had spent every waking moment since birth being abused by her father physically and emotionally. She was never allowed to leave her home and not even given any proper education. She had never been treated with an ounce of kindness or care by a single person around her. That kind of trauma would take years of therapy to overcome, if they can even overcome it. I think Maxi has shown great believable growth and strength so far. She is obviously still going to have her insecurities, but the fact that she did stand her ground speaks volumes. The Maxi from before would never have even made it to the castle walls.
I think the expectation of readers for FLs are higher now because of all the new webtoons/manhwa/manga with strong FLs. Especially the isekai ones, you know how in their past lifes they also had a hard time, mistreated and had traumas but overcame it the moment they transmigrated to another world. This is just my opinion though, might not be true for others but I do think it raised the bar higher for FLs. For some, it may be because they just have strong personalities themselves.
Still think she could’ve been more confident defending the wall ╮(￣▽￣)╭
I wish they would show improvement on the wife’s character.
