I agree and maybe, just maybe the duke's mom belonged to the temple and was like a saintess or priestess or something and that's why the church treats the duke so bad, other than his whole family "curse" thingy
Yeah, this theory is much better. As that head maid is only saying that she is doing all the work for the duchess. So she could be from the temple.
I think the reason why they call the Duke a monster is not just because he has powerful magic but maybe because like his mother died giving birth to him and that's why his dad was abusive and the head maid is like that but Idk it's just a theory
