I kind of get why he treats the daughter like that tho. I mean she is a product of his sexual abuse and while it might not be her fault it could be very traumatic for him because that could be what she reminds him of.
Although what I gathered from the spoilers is that at least part of the reason he treats her that way is because he loves her (no, I'm not defending 'tough love' here [I HATE that sh!t]. He literally appears to believe that treating her with love and kindness would be abusive. So 'tough love' is clearly the opposite of what he thinks he's actually doing).

From what I've been told he thinks what happened to him is *normal*. So he thinks giving his daughter love will end up with her being hurt the same way he's been hurt. Remember he was 15 when he became a father.
Honestly I hate the ml but I can see where’s he coming from. Not saying that his actions are justifiable but considering what happend to him and how traumatic it can be I feel bad. Also I can see why the ml doesn’t trust the fl. I mean as nice as the fl is now the original one was abusive and always asking for attention when he expressed he didn’t want it. Though he didn’t have a reason to treat the daughter so poorly. A child deserves love. Anyways hope character development comes in real quick lol
