i was thinkin this too but in the novel it goes a lil more of why & even without the novel the manhwa does a pretty good job. he had at MOST 5 secs so contrary to what it seems like hes going FAST n he alrdy didnt have a lot of mana bc of the air spell n shit but to also take another, what? 2-3 secs to move outta the dragon will range ? he couldnt have made it n he himself knew he couldnt, sheesh he could hardly make it TO tess so he opted out to the next best thing, act like a shield.
He could of gotten both of them out of range instead of bocking it with his body
