Pretty sure it's related to the accident and his lost memories that he wasn't able to regain because of the lies he was told by his new fake family so basically those suppressed memories have a really over powering affect on him when they do surface
Plus I think he got a head injury of some sort in the accident and those can have lasting damage that can cause frequent fainting spells
