Excuse me, how do they do it? You know the characters I'm talking about, those characters who suddenly wake up in another body and immediately don't have some sort of mental breakdown mixed with an identity crisis at the same time. AND THEY IMMEDIATELY KNOW HOW TO BE like y'all times where different back then where do they take a shit for example, I barely know how to tie my shoes how do they tie a fricking corcett on their back how does the food taste I have so many questions. And shounen isekai pissed me off like: oh our world is in danger better kidnap a 17-20 something year old from ANOTHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE to saAave humanity. DoEsN't MaTtEr If ThEy HaVe ThEiR oWn BuLsHiT to WorRy AbOut.

Y E S I WOKE UP AND CHOSE VIOLENCE COME AND FIGHT ME ON THIS.

It’s mostly because the original body’s memories are mixed with the mc’s memories that’s why most quickly adapt. And for those who got reincarnated as a baby, i mean. They started from scratch there’s no question there. And for the shounen isekais i agree with you on their illogical whims and I’d only read if the mc would rebel from the summoner and do nis own sht

I read "kill the villainess" and I really loved how the MC was portrayed. She wasn't like some reincarnated MCs where they suddenly end up in another world in another body and just roll with it but she actually tries to find a way back home

Heres the link if you havent read it yet and are interested in reading it

    1. Very few isekai have a saintess summoning thingy. Most times, they die in the original world. But generally, people don't care about strangers beyond their own needs. If a leader irl had that ability and need irl they would absolutely use it and probably for less humanitarian reasons.

    2. Their new body has already adjusted to wearing a corset. They have other people help tighten them like a maid/family member.

    3. Often they have memories from the host. Sometimes they have memories of the story. But, really, it's not that hard adjusting to a different culture. People do it all the time irl. Trouble comes when your natural self conflicts directly with the new culture. Like in the isekai I'm writing now, the protagonist is gay. In his original world, that was illegal. The isekai'd world it's not common but not illegal. He couldn't live in the original world no matter what he did.

Some isekai manga, especially Chinese ones, have a big issue with sexism where they'll take an independent woman and degrade her for independence and individuality, forcing her into a traditional female role. I'm not a fan of this tbh. I prefer the take http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/koushaku_reijou_no_tashinami/ took where she works within the system but grabs the power she needs through other methods.

    4. The toilet thing is a strange complaint when you consider the cultures these manga are created in. Many cultures have squat or 'hole in the ground' toilets. It wouldn't likely be a big adjustment.

    5. With most of the rest, I think you underestimate the human body (⌒▽⌒)

There's a lot that has nothing to do with your memories and everything to do with your body. Most of what you do is muscle memory or the way your brain has been trained. Even how things taste for you is influenced by your tongue.

Very good points. But for point 1. I was talking at a very specific isekai but also a general isekai trope where

    1. The character doesn't die instead they where quite literally kidnapped off the side of the road

    2. Where summoning is more of a "tradition" rather than an "absolute last fucking choice" THAT pisses me off to no end

Other than that thank you for a genuine response. Honestly this was just me bored and taking a break from work

Also I heard you where writing an isekai yourself? This sounds super interesting! Can you drop some details please?(☆▽☆)
