I think I know what you're talking about. I could have sworn it was in the tentacles tag but I guess not.
The fathers ashes were in a box and at night they would come out and touch the boy. I wanna say it took the form of tentacles or hands?
The boy is saved by the seme of the story who (I think) broke the box therefore vanquishing the fathers spirit.
