Yeh he didn’t, he was actually just waiting to die in the library then he woke up surprised he wasn’t dead, although he didn’t call 911 I think it was to not attract attention he instead walked to the nearest ER after he got Better long story short ash and eiji went to Japan to make their own bakery but it still gets me just thinking of how he could’ve died if you are to go on the official banana fish page check the characters who died and who is alive chart and you’ll see he’s alive, then if you want more proof look at the homepage with their bakery and watch the ending song where he was walking to the hospital.

No he never died in the first place really the ending even shows him waking up and walking to the ER and then the website shows their opened restaurant in Japan
