It's defiitely true that love isn't jealous controlling behavior, but I don't think it's the jealousy itself that's completely bad, but mostly the obsessive and aggressive way many people express it... Same as the insecurity: it's not "bad" until you put the bulk of the blame on others for it and when choose the worst ways possible to solve it or even express it...
He said “I can try to love you” like that is so shitty, no matter if he came to that excuse of a realization jealousy does not equal love it can come from being possessive he had zero feelings before he is just afraid of getting what he deems as his property getting taken away which honestly sucks but also the ml should just move on, he should have a long time ago
