The red guy(cant remember his name) threw wei wuxian into burien mountains. Before he was thrown in he cursed at the red guy. Then all the other clans decided to start a rebellion against the red clan. Fast forward, they are hiding. And they started to slowly kill the red clan. But they found out someone else is helping the rebels kill off red clan. The guy that was helping them was wei wuxian.(fyi, wei wuxian didn't die) now wei wuxian has decided show up in front of the red guy and kill him off. Sorry if this didnt make sense. Also if you watch the anime or the drama(the drama is a bit different) it makes a lot more sense.

The red guy is called Wen Chao he is the youngest son of Wen Rulan who is the leader of wen sect who distroyed yunmeng sect( Jiang Cheng's clan), and burned down gusu lan sect.
After throwing Wei Ying into the yiling burial mounds, wei wuxian gets severely injured( broke his ribs, leg and hand) he spent 3 months in burial mounds by absorbing the resentful energy and become the first person in cultivation to cultivate demonic energy( the burial mound is filled with dead bodies that's why it has resentful energy) he started to control corpse using his demonic power and control them using flute music. Way ying came back to exert revenge on Wen Chao.
