I think the editorial want to extend the story due to high popularity. We just need to wait and see if that was the right choice, but I believe in Tanaka so I'm aiming for the best =D * with lots of drama *
Ogeretsu also says in an interview that Naoto is probably her favorite uke character because he's a combination of all her favorite characteristics. If the editors did indeed offer her a chance to continue the story, I'm sure she jumped on it. That's unless, of course, she was given a choice and she decided to work on this particular story.
