If I remember correctly, the emperor meets his kids in chapter 18. His shadow knights grab them while she isn’t home and brings them to a tavern in the village where the emperor meets them. They eat, fall asleep in bed with the emperor.
The FL is all panicky because the kids aren’t home, she runs into the knights’ capitain. Not sure what they tell each other. She runs in the woods and meets blondie who showed up in tt his chapter with some other guy.
While asleep, the emperor dreams to contact the FL.
Many other spoilers state that the emperor admits to the FL trat he loves her, but doesn’t feel any attachment to the kids. It’s possible that’s going to happen overtime since he didn’t get to be a father to them till that point.
This isn’t the actual main plot, though. The whole running away and keeping their children away from him. There’s a rebel group against the emperor (blondie is a part of that) who will try to use both her and her kids against the emperor. I saw some spoilers about that and I read that they kidnap both her and the little girl and they’re saved by the emperor.
