It's realistic. Most realistic confessions aren't cute. Any guy would be happy with sex. A dude turning down sex must be tired or not in the mood or not attracted enough to the person. I find it cute and it's way better than any sweet talk i've ever read.
He's being honest. And this is one of the rare instances where a character does not confuse sex with love.
