Usually, if you suspect that someone has some kind of superpowers and uses them underhandedly for evil purposes, would you just go to him straight - alone, unarmed & unprepared - and accuse him? Never mind protecting someone else, you won't even be able to protect yourself!

He's portrayed as a childish teen with massive imagination. Like the complete opposite of the duchess, so I think it's understandable why. You don't expect every character to be perfect and adjust to your opinion, now would you?
