He isn’t a pedo from what I can tell cause he’s never seen him in that light, so we don’t have to worry lol. He exclusively sees him as an adorable little brother that heals him by being adorable after feeling tired which is adorable. Meanwhile, our boy has a crush on him, which is kind of actually common for a little kid to have a crush on an older person(as long as the older person doesn’t reciprocate during said childhood cause then THAT would be pedophilia)

idk if it was just me but the older brother was looking at the kid in a couple of chapters like he was completely charmed by him and thought the kid was cool for doing and saying certain things.

and bro. there are literal genres for "lolicons" "shotacons" in which they sexualize underdeveloped bodies. or having MCs fall for characters with underdeveloped bodies. and it's passed off as an acceptable thing to do in mangas and anime. I can name quite a few animes that do this.
so it's not out of pocket or far fetched for an author to take a story like this and make it head in that direction. They even animated Super Lovers. at first it was a familial kind of affection but in the second season he ends up having sex with the kid!

Yes, I know, and understand.. but two underaged kids is not pedophilia. This particular story is borderline in that the author is clearly pointing the story towards a romantic relationship between the two in the future.The author clearly makes the younger kid act out typical seme type actions.. It's obvious, so everyone's nerves get all jangled . fighting if it's wrong or right,etc.. For me personally.. it's ok to watch young love if they wait until they are legal age to act on it and I think this story will. This isn't lolicon or shotacon..but it IS listed as Shounen Ai, so it's not just a slice of life story.

it's BORDERLINE for me and controversial with many readers because the author has SPECIFICALLY chosen to use a the pov of a boy who is not even in his pre-teens to be EVEN POSSIBLY subjected to sexual desire whether it's within himself or directed to him. cuz there are several panels in diff chapters that view the older male as pretty innocently erotic. The older male also thought the child was "cool" a few times and chooses to spend more time with him than with friends or making effort to find a girlfriend. However, just because I said borderline, it doesn't mean i don't agree with this trying to create an innocent atmosphere and childish crushes. but the author is walking on thin ice here bc this is manga we're talking about it's not unfathomable of a possibility. With a tip of a hat, it'd be simple for it to head in an unsavory direction with the current state the characters are in and that's why everyone's on edge.
look up super lovers here on mangago. this here is prime example of what this kind of story can lead to despite it being wholesome in the beginning. It's also tagged as shonen ai but it doesn't mean it's not geared towards Shotacons nor does it have that tag.
Shotacon and lolicons is an adjective and by literal definition REFERS to the PEOPLE who are attracted to characters or people that are younger than 16. not the actual sexual act of making advances towards under aged or underdeveloped bodies. meaning the AUDIENCE/READERS who are interested in seeing that kind of content...basically readers *pedos* who get turned on, aroused, or piqued when they see little boys or girls. therefore if it'll sell, authors are going to create that kind of content. (in all honesty the question is more of what kind of oddity HAVEN'T we seen in mangas and anime)
even genres that don't have anything to do with romance still sexualize underdeveloped bodies and sprinkle it through their work...or have characters interested in underaged/underdeveloped bodies. I can name so many it's disgusting. just like it's almost like some kind of a requirement for animators or mangakas to provide "fan service" like skirt lifts or extremely skimpy clothing whenever a female character is involved. (that's another separate topic im so heated about. but the fact that both concepts are there to service fan interests remains fact.)
He's brushing it off as puppy love and innocent affection for now...but It's looking like his affection is quietly growing. I feel like and also hope that the older male is responsible and patient enough to wait if he realizes that he actually likes the kid romantically.
I understand your position and opinion of this manga. and if you don't see it the way people do, that's fine. you're entitled to that opinion. But don't discredit or get annoyed with others' opinions that they strongly hold bc they're not entirely wrong or baseless with their suspicions of the possibility of pedophilia occuring. they have reason to be even if you don't see it. and quite frankly you have all the freedom in the world not to read those comments and move on and enjoy the story in peace without getting involved with commenters.

Even if it's a romance that will happen in the distant future, so it makes some people uncomfortable.. the reply function is open so that people can have open discussions whether that is differing views or similar ones. if you come to the conclusion that made your opinions about a specific topic on the work to be completely renewed, slight tweaked or completely changed..or even gained more insight and wisdom on a matter...then you either gain a new to think and analyze a character and story or stand firm in what you believe it to be BECAUSE you had that discussion. I mean, you can think someone’s cool without feeling romantic or sexual attraction to them? I see it as strictly a younger kid having a crush on an older kid while the older kid sees him as a little brother he wants to dote on. If a character blushes, that doesn’t mean it’s because of affection, people blush due to different things at times. That’s why I don’t think the word pedo fits here, since there is nobody older seeing a younger kid as a romantic partner. It’s like fcking cardcaptor Sakura having a crush on her brother’s friend in the earlier episodes and stuff like that. Kids have crushes, and the person being crushed on sometimes doesn’t know or doesn’t take it seriously since their kids, but still finds them endearing and cute cause that’s how anime kids are(unless they’re fcking brats you want to curb stomp and punt)
